I have realized that somewhere along the line I have become a comic artist lurker. I know it all started with ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) erikamoen and quirkybird, they were my gateway drug so to speak, and now I'm a creepy lurker. It's strange for me because being a photographer and artist myself I have lots of creative friends who paint and draw and shoot and collage and so on and that's no big deal because I can do those things. But comic art, and narrative and humor...this form of creativity is beyond me and it's fascinating and makes me feel shy and awestruck. The funny thing is my husband (of the beautful paper masks) has been a cartoonist forever but he has mostly done political cartoons in his career and I can more easily wrap my head around one panel pieces. Of course his grasp of perspective and dimensional space boggles my mind.
ANYWAY, Stumptown Comics Fest is coming in April and I am very excited to meet some of the artists I am stalking and also nervous that I will come across as a weirdo stalker. On the other hand I've seen some of my favorite artists naked so nyah!

The interesting thing about stock photography is that your images are of course completely up for grabs and can be edited, Photoshopped and cropped ad infinitum. Often I don't even recognize the photo as my own at first glance. As an artist you really have to not care about the sanctity of your work because you just never know where and how it will end up. Composition, balance, color - not really important half the time.
(This last one kills me) |

I updated my site to a really simple side scroll gallery although there is a little something I have to fix. If anyone sees anything misspelled please let me know, the new glasses are not helping me out very much. I do like seeing my work all together in gallery form though, versus one image at a time.

So I didn't send anything to the Seattle Erotic Art Festival this year and am debating sending work for the gift shop. Last year's shop sales were dismal compared to previous years, I think the shop was just overcrowded with stuff and it was hard to even find my work. I don't want to send my latest tentacle pictures and I don't really feel I shot much this past year that would qualify as "erotic". I guess in general I've sort of lost interest, five years was a good run and since it's not the only venue for my type of work anymore (which I never thought of as particularly erotic, just sort of "pretty with nakedness") I don't feel it's a very good fit for me anymore. It was great exposure at the time, I'm glad I was involved when I was.
Best of luck to those of you who are in this year, I'm sure it will be an event to remember! |

WAAAAAAHHHHH! Well it finally happened, I took my daughter to the ORTHODONTIST and am now basically paying for the financial equivalent of a 2001 Honda Accord to be put in her mouth. What does this mean?
ATTIC SALE of course. I don't know when precisely, I'll have to organize everything and I also found (in the eaves of the attic) a bunch more prints from past shows I completely forgot about.
Of course since no one reads live journal anymore I don't know how many people I can reach but it's worth a try. DAMN! |
